crackCrack cocaine, the crystal form of cocaine, typically looks like solid blocks or crystals in yellow or white or some pale colored variation of the sort. Crack got its name from the cracking or popping sound made when you heat it, before smoking it. Crack is between 75% to 100% pure, so you can see how it got its reputation for being not only a high risk drug, but igniting a very intense high as well.

Crack is a dramatically addictive narcotic. Part of the reason why this is has to do with the fact that the high only lasts about fifteen minutes yet is one of the most powerful as far as psychological dependance is concerned. Tolerance develops quickly with crack and some addicts end up having to spend thousands a day on it. The high is described as a very intense euphoria coupled with what’s usually described as feeling “unstoppable”. This is followed by a low which is reported as feelings of intense depression, edginess and strong cravings.

What are some short-term effects with people who use crack often? They become malnourished from lack of proper food and sleep. They can get rapid heartbeat, muscle spasms and convulsions. This drug also increases the risk for heart attack, stroke, seizure or respiratory failure- any one of these things can result in sudden death. Other short-term effects include loss of appetite, increased body temperature, increased blood pressure, nausea, hyperstimulation, hallucinations, hyperexcitability, irritability, intense euphoria, anxiety and paranoia, panic and psychosis.

In general, crack will make the user feel paranoid, angry, hostile and anxious even in a sober state of mind. This could be cause for a potentially violent situation.

Some long-term effects of crack are permanent blood vessel damage to blood vessels of ear and brain, high blood pressure, severe chest pains, respiratory failure, infectious diseases, malnutrition, severe tooth decay, hallucinations, reproductive damage, infertility, disorientation, apathy, mood disturbances, irritability, delirium, psychosis, severe depression and liver, kidney and lung damage. In general, the drug habit brings the body down to a deteriorated state and poor health condition. Another long-term effect worth mentioning is aggressive behavior, as you can see why use of this drug has a lot of danger potential associated with it. The result of being a crack addict, or even ex crack addict, as is evident, is an individual that has to struggle with a vile and burdensome list of phenomena.

This drug is sure to ruin lives and apparently seems to change personalities for far, far worse. Many people struggle with crack addiction as it is one of the most highly addictive, a lot more potent of a drug than ordinary cocaine. An unnerving amount of users have gotten addicted off the bat. It is one of the most common drugs people have reported as losing their self-respect and self-worth from. This probably has to do with the fact that the danger aspect is significant in the case of people who use crack because the nature of the drug has a tendency to trigger violence and aggressive behavior.
